A year-round shedder with a double-coat of
thick medium-length hair, the German Shepherd
benefits from daily grooming with a steel pin
or slicker brush. The outer coat is
made up of harsh close-lying hair that is
straight or slightly wavy. The inner coat is
softer and should be groomed with a rake
to discourage matting.
