BioLife 35/55 Internal Wet/Dry Power Filter Manual

Filter Placement

Bio-Life can be installed on any aquarium at least 12" x 12" surface. It is compact enough to fit on the end of any 12" (30cm) wide aquarium, or the more standard placement on the back wall of an aquarium.
Bio-Life is designed to fit beneath a normal aquarium canopy without requiring canopy cut-outs. The Flow Deflector permits pinpoint accuracy in flow direction.

Classic filter placement has always been on the back wall of the aquarium. Water flow will be forced down and toward the front of the aquarium. This creates a rolling current from top to bottom that can help to keep particles suspended longer in the water. Depending on how the deflector is positioned, lateral movement in the aquarium will move either left or right. Unlike common outside filters, installation of the Bio-Life on the back wall of an aquarium does not require the tank to be placed away from a wall. The power cords are the only parts which are locate outside the aquarium.

Bio-Life is the first multi-stage filter which can be placed anywhere along the aquarium rim. The heater and filter case fit snugly below standard lighting canopies, the wires need only a small opening to exit the aquarium. This permits installation on either aquarium side (illustration 6). Placement on the aquarium side permits a tank to be positioned perpendicularly to a wall as a room divider without distracting tubes or filter cases obstructing the view. Side placement also creates long sweeping currents through the entire length of the aquarium ensuring an even view, continuous mix of water. There is no need for the deflector plate in this configuration, although it can be used to direct the current down deeper into the aquarium before it creates currents.
