Maintenance

UNIT MAINTENANCE

Bio-Life uses only one moving part, pump maintenance is minimal. Remove the pump unit monthly and clean accumulated deposits from the impeller well. The FLUVAL Cleaning Brush for Impellers (A-680) is recommended for this purpose. At the same time the intake stem should be cleaned of deposits. This can be accessed from below the unit by removing the intake stem plug. The entire unit can be rinsed with lukewarm water to remove any build-up, but care should be taken not to harm the biological ability in the "dry" chamber. The Biological Core should only be rinsed (if at all) in aquarium water, not tap water that could contain chlorine or chloramine that is toxic to bacteria colonies. It is best to separate the Bio 1 before rinsing the rest of the unit. Regular use of CYCLE will reduce any build-up of deposits by actively breaking down sludge, reducing filter maintenance. Never use soap or detergents, traces could be left that are toxic to all aquarium inhabitants
