There are two types of Chinese Crested Dogs: the hairless
and the powder puff. The hairless variety is not completely
bald, sporting a clump of hair called a “tuft” on its
head, as well as a plume on its tail and “socks” on its
paws. Little grooming is required with this lively, odorless
breed, but lotion should be put on the skin before going
outdoors for anything longer than a brief walk to prevent
sunburn. The powder puff Chinese Crested has a silky
double coat over its entire body, with long guard hairs over a soft undercoat. A steel pin
brush should be used to groom the outer coat on a weekly basis. The undercoat should
be groomed regularly with a slicker brush to discourage matting. |
